A Community Based Art Performance bringing together people of all backgrounds. Creative expression, ritual movements, performance and art installations  offer a way to connect and celebrate our humanity

HARMOS-the human flag project is a Hiroshima Day memorial and a public ritual for peace. Create a Peace Flag. Harvest creative energy. Continue to work for peace. August 4th, 2007 (Sat.) 8 pm Unthank Park (510 N Shaver St., near Mississippi St.) August 5th, 2007 (Sun.) 7:30 pm Japanese American Historical Plaza Waterfront Park (NW Naito Parkway at Couch St.) "Remembering Hiroshima & Nagasaki" program, with Harmos following August 6th, 2007 (Mon.) 8 pm Buckman School Field (SE 16th & Stark) These events are free and open to the public. Seating is on the grass; bring a blanket or chair. On August 4-6th at three Portland Parks and Portland communities in Oregon will have the opportunity to engage in the creation of a public gathering for peace.  Workshops leading up to the event will offer a creative process for children and families to create a “human flag” that expresses their feelings and image of peace. Join Oregon artists Ping Khaw, Chisao Hata, LÃm Quáng & Kestrel Gates for workshops focused on using the creative process for peace and harmony. Symbols, images and words will be used to visualize our inner quest for peace. Images and artwork created during this workshop will be used during the public performances in August 2007. Family and students are welcome to participate. Please RSVP. Free to public, all supplies will be provided. Peace station training and flag making workshops: free to community partners and public. July 21st, 11am-2pm: at Peninsula Children Center, 4720 N Maryland Avenue, hosted by Our United Villages July 28th: 15th Annual Division/Clinton Street Fair June 10th (Sunday): 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm "Harmos" fundraising event at Kinta Restaurant (3450 SE Belmont St. Portland, OR 97214, 503-234-2623). Come enjoy the new work of Ping Khaw, lamps by HiiH gallery, exotic exploration of SE Asia by Jalan2Asia and help us to raise fund to support this great cause.
